Join The Room Debate!

It’s Room Debate time lovelies – this time I’ve got a kind of country-ish dining room for our constructive critique. As always, it’s easy to take part. Just have a good look at the room photo below and leave a comment with your answers to these two questions:

One thing I like most about this room is…

One thing I like least about this room is…

{via House to Home}

I’ve started things off in the comments below… can’t wait to hear what you think of this one!

Have a lovely weekend.

    Welcome one and all!

    The thing I like MOST about this one is the white painted brick wall at the end with that cosy fire. As time goes on I find myself liking exposed brick walls more and more but I like how the white paint here takes the industrial edge off and makes it more suitable for a country style room.

    The thing I like LEAST is an odd one for me – it’s the symmetry of the room. Generally, I like restrained, balanced interiors a lot but this is a step too far. The candlesticks in a line right down the centre of the table, the matchy-matchy plates, the lamps and the plates of bits and pieces either side. I want to go in and scruff it up a bit!

    I like the most is the fire going in the fireplace and that the height of the fireplace being much more in diner’s line of sight rather than lower to the floor. (I also like the painted brickwork too because in reality brick dust is just a pain).

    My least favourite thing in the room is the flooring – I am assuming that it is some kind of coir matting or seagrass; which is not very cosy and hard to remove squashed in food from the fibre, pets can spoil it in quite short order…need I say more.

      Thanks for your comment Stephanie. I love how different people come at this critique in different ways and I enjoyed reading your practical take on the room.
      Hadn’t thought about the dust from exposed brick before – I am making a mental note of that one!

    Most favourite: The fireplace and the white painted brick wall. Fabulous. As well as the wood logs on each side. I do not like the table cloth with this. Think it would have been nice to let the wood and white stay in focus.

    And what are those random colours on each side of the fireplace? Plates of fruit? Candle holders? And like you said… why two on each side. It is symmetry but also random as it seems to be symmetry just for symmetry’s sake. :)

    Just read Stephanie’s comment and I’m not a fan of the rug either.

    I really like the exposed brick and the plates on the walls. One looks like the Eiffel tower and I love that! I don’t like the over symmetrical nature though. I love the white too.

    But I am not keen on the chairs or rug at all..I don’t like covered chairs like that though for a dining table…so I will be biased!

    Great feature!
