Decorator’s Notebook is 1 today!

One year ago today, I published my first blog post and Decorator’s Notebook was born!

{via The Sweetest Occasion}

A few things have happened over the last year. I became addicted to Pinterest. Decorator’s Notebook was mentioned in The Telegraph. My little flat has come along leaps and bounds.

But the biggest change has been my approach to my blog. When I first started I was happy to write it just for me, as a scrapbook of my ideas and a record of my achievements in my first home. But as people started reading and were sweet enough to leave me comments, I realised my blog wasn’t just for me anymore. I want Decorator’s Notebook to be for you, and me, and us all together!

So… as year two begins, please may I ask you a little favour?

Whether you’re a regular commenter or usually stay behind the scenes, it would be the best birthday present if everyone who visits today would take a moment to say “hello” and tell me:

What do you like best about Decorator’s Notebook?

Is there anything you’re not so keen on?

Are there any themes you’d like me to write about?

Thanks everyone!

    Happy birthday! Me too, love your blog. Always full of inspiring, fresh, never-before-seen ideas, projects and pictures. Don’t think you should change a thing ! x

    Hi! My fave part of Decorator’s Notebook are the room tours with lots of interiors shots of homes I’ve not seen before. There’s lots of great inspiration here so I wouldn’t change a thing! I’m also a big fan of all things craft-y so maybe a bit more of that? But I love reading your blog and think it’s great as it is! Laura x

      Cheers Laura. I agree with you about including more crafty bits. In fact, I’ve just bought a new DSLR camera (let’s call it a blog birthday present to myself!) so I’m hoping to learn to photograph my projects more nicely. Watch this space!

    Hi! Happy Birthday! I’m still rather new to your blog but I love it. I think you try to hard to please everyone, this is after all your blog. I do love your room debates, and different crafty things. Your posts are not repeats of things I’ve seen before and I find that refreshing. Thank you and good luck with your coming year! Tarah

      Thanks Tarah… you’re probably right that I try too hard to please everyone… and not just on my blog! It’s great to hear that I find things you haven’t seen all over the place – that’s what I aim for so it’s good it’s working!

    Happy Birthday DN! I like the peeks at inspiring homes, the craft projects or what things your’ve been doing in your own flat. I like seeing stuff I don’t see on the ‘big five’ interior blogs either. That said I don’t contribute to the room debates as they are of less interest to me (sorry!). I like that you highlight ideas that are not out of reach financially or spatially for flat owners; UK homes are much smaller than the US homes you see on other blogs. So more of that please :) Maybe more looks at savvy and fun sourcing trips would be good (either here or in other European countries). I love me a flea market or a hidden shopping gem! Good luck with DN going forward and thank you for this lovely space x

      Such a useful comment Beatrice – thanks for your insight. Sounds like you’re a secret regular so it’s lovely to hear from you! I’m hoping my new camera will mean I can do more posts about Le Flat and also more vintage shopping posts so it’s great to know they’d be of interest. Oh – there’s a really lovely London Shop Tour coming up next week so keep an eye out for that. Thanks again!

    Happy birthday. I only just discovered Decorator’s Notebook through and can’t wait to look back through the last year’s posts. It’s so refreshing to find a lovely British interiors blog rather than all the American ones with lots of gorgeous things only available overseas. Best wishes for your second year.

    I agree – I love it all, but mainly because I think it’s very consistent in terms of your style. I love the room debate, I think that’s my favourite! I like the idea of seeing more of your flat, however, I do know from personal experience how much effort it is to photograph it all – so now and again is fine x
