Decorating dilemma: is it wrong to take this with me when I move house?

Enamel house number 5{Decorator’s Notebook}

No, I’m not moving to another number 5, but since this little flat was my first home I feel like I’d quite like a souvenir.

And basically, I just think it would look rather nice on the wall in my new home. Or maybe the mantlepiece…

Bad manners?

    Keep it, but make sure you offer to replace it for the new owners if they’d like you to. When do you move? Sounds very exciting, katie x

    If you state to potential buyers that you are taking it, then no problem.
    If you have already sold your place, then replace it with something similar.

    We moved into our place only to discover the previous owners had removed the door knocker – I also thought they’d taken the door numbers too until I looked back over my first-viewing photos and realised they’d just lived there for a whole six years without one – who does that?!* But you will of course leave your place looking lovely so I don’t see why you shouldn’t take it – I dont think you need to offer to replace it but as previously commented it’s probably a nice thing to do.

    *we still haven’t put one up, a year later, oops!

    When we moved when I was a kid my parents took… wait for it… the kitchen, the bathroom fittings, all the internal doors. To be fair our old house was getting converted into flats but I always thought it was rather on the excessive side!

    If all flats in the building have the same style sign, you should leave it. Otherwise, I would replace it by a nice one to put on the door and keep and keep that one as a souvenir!
